Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)

We are excited to accept Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) funds, expanding access to a
premier Christ-centered education.

The Texas Education Freedom Act, established through Senate Bill 2, introduces a new Education Savings Account (ESA) program beginning in the 2026–27 school year. Through this program, eligible families may receive approximately $10,000 per student each year to help cover private school tuition or other approved educational expenses. The goal of the ESA program is to expand access to private education, particularly for low- and moderate-income families as well as students with specialized learning needs.

As families explore education options in Texas, we understand there may be questions regarding TEFA and Odyssey. While these two entities work together, they serve very different roles in your student’s journey.

To help our Panther families navigate this, here is a simple breakdown of how the program works.

Understanding the Roles

  • TEFA (Texas Education Freedom Account): This is a state-funded program that allows eligible families to use public education funds toward approved educational expenses, including private school tuition.

  • Odyssey: This is the program administrator selected by the State of Texas to manage the day-to-day operations of TEFA. Odyssey is responsible for processing applications, reviewing eligibility documents, managing family accounts, and distributing funds to approved schools like Pantego Christian Academy.

It is important to note that Odyssey does NOT:

  • Decide PCA admissions or enrollment status.

  • Set PCA tuition rates or school policies.

  • Provide educational or spiritual services.

We’re Here to Walk With You

While TEFA funding decisions are made by the state and managed through the Odyssey platform, the PCA Admissions Team is here to support you. We are happy to:

  • Help you understand how the state's timeline fits with our enrollment process.

  • Explain how TEFA funds can work alongside PCA tuition and our existing financial aid programs.

  • Answer general questions as you discern the best path for your child’s Christian education.

If you are considering Pantego Christian Academy and plan to utilize TEFA, please reach out to us—we would love to partner with your family during this exciting time.
