College and Academic Advising

Guiding Students Today. Preparing Leaders for Tomorrow.Preparing for College—Starting Early at PCA
At Pantego Christian Academy, we believe college and career readiness starts well before senior year. That’s why our dedicated College and Academic Advising Office begins working with students as early as 8th grade, guiding them every step of the way toward their post-graduation goals.

Academic Planning and Personalized Guidance
We closely monitor each student’s academic records to ensure they are on track with their appropriate graduation plan. Our advising program is designed to meet students where they are: group advising is offered for 8th–10th grade students (with parents invited to attend), while 11th grade students receive individual advising to help personalize their academic and college planning path. Individual meetings are also available at any time, as requested or recommended by our counselor.

College Exposure and Exploration
We provide numerous opportunities for students to explore their college

options early. Each year, our Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior classes participate in college tours—with no cost to families.

  • Freshmen spend a day at Dallas Baptist University,
  • Sophomores visit Tarleton State and Baylor University,
  • Juniors tour Abilene Christian and Hardin-Simmons.

We also host a mini college fair on campus and schedule college representatives to visit during lunch hours so students can explore schools right here at PCA.

Support Through the Application Process
Our team offers robust support for students navigating the college application process. In 11th grade English classes, students draft and refine a personal essay that is ready to be used for college applications. We also host summer workshops for rising seniors to complete applications, build resumes, and prepare their portfolios. Letters of recommendation are written and submitted by our office to support students in their college admissions and scholarship applications.

Tools, Testing, and Preparation
We implement and maintain Scoir, a comprehensive college planning software that helps students track applications, build college lists, and stay organized. Students in grades 8–11 take a version of the ACT or SAT directly on campus, including the PreACT 8/9, PreACT, ACT, PSAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and SAT. For Juniors, we offer targeted test prep sessions led by retired educators to help boost performance.

Challenging Academics that Open Doors
PCA offers a variety of AP courses, including Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, U.S. History, and multiple Computer Science courses. Beginning in Fall 2026, AP Pre-Calculus will also be added. For students interested in earning college credit during high school, we offer Dual Credit courses through Colorado Christian University in subjects such as English, History, Biology, Business, and Math.

Engaged Parents, Informed Students
We recognize that parents are an essential part of the college journey. That's why we host evening meetings for parents of Juniors and Seniors, providing important information on deadlines, application timelines, and planning next steps. These meetings are tailored specifically to each grade level to ensure families are equipped and informed.
