Graduation Requirements

The Pantego Christian Academy Guidance department assists our staff and students in fulfilling the mission of the school. The elementary counselor provides age-appropriate classroom presentations on topics ranging from positive classroom behaviors to treating others with kindness and respect. Middle school guidance activities include overseeing small group Bible studies, assisting with student schedules, and helping individual students. At the senior high level, students are guided in selecting their academic program to fulfill graduation requirements, prepare for and apply to colleges, and manage their academic coursework. The counseling staff meets with students and families and works in cooperation with the faculty and school leadership to plan effectively and prepare efficiently.

Effective beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, Pantego Christian Academy will be making the following changes to the graduation requirements:

1. ½ credit in Health will no longer be required for graduation but will fulfill an elective credit.
2. 1 credit in Technology will no longer be required for graduation but will fulfill an elective credit. In addition, the 1½ credits in technology will no longer be required in the Distinguished Achievement Plan.
3. 1 credit in PE will now be required rather than 1½ credits.

Rationale: The State of Texas is adopting the changes listed above and after an internal study; PCA has determined it would be in the best interest of our students to adopt similar graduation requirements. Students will still have opportunity to take additional credits in these areas, but those credits will now count as elective credits to meet the minimum number of credits needed for graduation. Please review the chart listed below which illustrates the total number of credits needed by department.
